- The person doing your very-important-must-be-on-time edits goes on vacation before getting them back to you.
- The person handling your very-important-time-sensitive files has a co-worker take sick leave and becomes subsequently swamped with all of the work.
- You propose to have a lovely telephone call to work out specifics on your project, and don't actually have that call until 1 month later.
- Your supervisor takes on four other projects and disappears for an unspecified amount of time.
